News from E W..........
Big Brother, After Dark launching on Showtime
Come July 5, rabid fans of CBS's Big Brother will have a new way to spy on the show's sequestered houseguests: the eye will start airing live feeds from the house on one of its sister Showtime channels. Dubbed Big Brother, After Dark, the live action in the house will air every night from 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. on SHOTOO, a Showtime channel that airs mostly theatricals and adult flicks and is available in over 14 million homes. This is the first time the network has aired live feeds on TV, though they have been available via the internet since BB launched seven years ago. Also new for fans this summer: episodes will be available on CBS.com. The eighth season of Brother will air Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. And yes — host Julie Chen will be back. |

| Can you imagine if they offered this last season? Those SOs of some of the HGs could Tivo it and see what was going on without being internet savy. This year it will be harder to hide! Now if they showed the diary room sessions it would be great. And I doubt they will be able to get away with 3 hours of fishes or flames. It will be interesting! |

I'd love to do that but we have regular cable and not digital, so they would need to re-wire our whole house. We have 5 TVs in the house with 3 of them with Tivo. (I know, sounds like alot, but remember, my daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren all live here.)
I have also checked on getting Direct TV rather than cable, but that would screw up our Web access. I don't think I want to give up cable to go to DSL. Too scary.
It would be so expensive to get things set up, I wanted to wait until I knew for certain it would be worth it. So, please keep me posted about how good it is. I promise I won't be too jeaolous.
If it is absolutely more wonderful than having Superpass I will bite the bullet. _________________

Bouncy! Bouncy! Funny, Xena! I feel the same way.
JW, I'm still on dial-up (probably the last person in America still on dial-up), so the live feeds are out of the question. I figured Sho2 would be the next best thing. And, since I already had DirectTV, it was a simple matter to add Showtime, online. I just hope it's worth it. I'll let you know. _________________ "Ain't no man can avoid being born average, but there ain't no man got to be common." ~ Baseball Hall-of-Famer Leroy "Satchel" Paige |

| I have a question for fellow Canadians out there or anyone who can help. Do we get Showtime? I have Bell Express Vu and was wondering where I may find it. I apologize if this has been asked before. |

My hand is up.
I dropped HBO and added Showtime (Dish Network) in making the change it was very easy and my monthly charge dropped a couple of dollars, if I miss HBO too much I'll change back to HBO when the time comes, after BB of course. _________________

I noticed the price difference, too, Von. On DirectTV, Showtime is $1.00 less a month than HBO. I wonder why. _________________ "Ain't no man can avoid being born average, but there ain't no man got to be common." ~ Baseball Hall-of-Famer Leroy "Satchel" Paige

Inky I've been on dialup since BB1 (rural living) and I've always had live feed..all you need is to down load real player and then subscribe to real player super pass..3 weeks ago we had HughesNet Satellite Service installed..So far that is iffy..Great when it works, but when the weather is bad, which has been most of the time, it doesn't work or is slower than dialup..Right now we have the satelitte service with dialup as backup service..Papa is not too happy paying two internet service bills. We've got until the 12th of the month before our 30 days money back guarantee expires. |

Char, when I try to download a 10-minute YouTube, it takes 30 minutes to an hour. Grrrrrrrr. Does Real Player work differently? I've always wanted to give it a try, but not if it acts like YouTube. I don't have the patience! _________________ "Ain't no man can avoid being born average, but there ain't no man got to be common." ~ Baseball Hall-of-Famer Leroy "Satchel" Paige |

No inky, sadly real player does not help with the youtubes and I understand your frustration. I would carefully pick and choose the youtubes I wanted to watch becase it took so long for them to download.
With the satellite system watching youtubes is wonderful. you click them on and they start playing and play all the way thru without the stop and start junk that drives you up the wall.
I see no reason why you can't subscribe to the Live Feed with Real Player though..On Dial Up it will take you longer to download Real Player than it would on cable or satellite so be prepared for that, but it is so worth it to have the LF. |
