3 nights a week.....

Quote:
And CBS announced it will run "Big Brother" three nights a week starting in February. Yes, that's right, the Mensas-in-a-house competition series originally developed as mind-numbing summer fare has been upgraded to ratings-sweeps programming in the teeth of the writers' strike.

"Big Brother" will replace "The Amazing Race," which will have wrapped another edition; "Kid Nation," which also will have concluded its first, and if there's a God in heaven its last, edition; "The Unit," which does not repeat well; and "Cane," which would not repeat well because it's not doing well in its initial telecasts.

CBS will debut its new comedy "The Captain" on Mondays in late January, replacing its most promising new comedy in a while, "The Big Bang Theory," which, sadly, ran out of episodes, and CBS will by late next month have repeated most of them. Plus "The New Adventures of Old Christine" will return to replace "Rules of Engagement," which is an act of mercy or we don't know what is.

And, saving the best for last, "Jericho" nutcases, um, fans -- it's back! Tuesdays at 10, starting Feb. 12. Get your blogs ready!

Joey Budafuco on BB9 or 10?

Quote:
« CBS Big Brother confirmedBig Brother rumors and spoilers…. »Joey Buttafuco tries to be a BB Houseguest…..
Things that make you go hmmmmmm…….

Joey Buttafuoco was one of about 70 houseguest hopefuls who participated in an open casting call this weekend in Los Angeles for CBS’ Big Brother. While waiting in line before his audition, Buttafuoco chatted with BB8 winner Dick Donato (yep, he was there, too). “I support the writers strike because they’re entitled to get what they work for,” said the 52-year-old, who’s appeared in such films as Finding Forrester and Mafia Movie Madness. “I don’t believe in crossing the picket line or anything like that because this program isn’t going to be happening for quite some time. Am I right?”

Not really. It’s CBS’ hope to get BB9 up and running by February, if the strike persists through the holidays (things could be looking up, however: both sides agreed to return to the negotiating table on Nov. 26). Buttafuoco says he’d be “an asset” to BB, though he admits his celebrity could work against him in the house. “It has hurt in the past,” admits Buttafuoco. “Even just going on a regular audition! Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don’t, because my Q rating is too high. But I’m not that character that the media made me out to be. I’m not that guy the media made me out to be.

I love the "three strikes and you're out" idea. I also like the enforced "lights out" and "wake up" times.
It's also about time they tinkered with the POV rules. Picking someone to play for you and that person has to use it on you if they win? Awesome. The person in question could be trying really hard to win it or trying really hard to lose it.
Fourteen strangers in a more "boot camp" style BB is just what I've been waiting for. Hope it's great!

Ok here's my take on all of this:
I'm with Cuz on the rules she likes..I've been waiting for 14 strangers to return to the BB house since BB3...I've been waiting for stricter living arrangements for the H/G since BB1..Production has made it way too easy for them.
I didn't like the ping/pong ball pick for veto challenges...That made it too easy for BB to mess with it.
I like the 3 times strike and you're out rule, unless........someone I really like is thrown out. Laughing
I don't know yet how I feel about the outgoing HOH being able to play for themselves the following week. i know there was sooo many times I wished that Janie or kaysar could play again the following week, but what if it is someone, like Dani of BBAS, that I want out and they get to play the following week...I'll have to reserve judgement on that one.
As far as the summer months being a house filled with known reality stars playing the BB game...i don't like that at all...I've seen enough of that unless of course they put Janelle and Will back in and they have both said they would not do it again. Laughing

Hmmm....Love that it's strangers, love that it will be more regimented and boot campish (the HGs are too soft!) And the three strikes rule, as long as it is applied fairly and consistently and no "bending" for anyone then I'm all for it. As for BB10 being filled with semi-movie whatevers....I think I will have free time again this summer just as with BB8. As far as I'm concerned BB9 has a lot of making up to do!

I'm looking forward to seeing how having the outgoing HOH able to compete the following week works out. I do think that it's an experiment worth making. It should make people less willing to throw HOH comps, no? If so, I'm all for it. A really good competitor could have a three or four week run and that would make for an interesting scramble.
(By the way, I hope singing is one of the "three strikes and you're out" offences! How many times did we lose feeds because of singing. The HGs have known for years that they could talk off feeds as long as one of them kept singing.)
I agree with Char that I hope the rules are applied with an even hand and favouritism isn't shown. (for example, Will and Janelle obviously getting time off feeds or getting private time in the DR)

I'm not a BB purist by any means, but I'm not sure I would like the idea of the HOH being able to compete the following week. That's BB to me. It seems like the fact that they can't compete adds a layer of strategy and tension in the game, but it's worth a try, I guess. As for the Boot Camp stuff, I think the more rules, the better...and the more things to keep track of, lol, although the going to bed thing seems silly. Don't we want to be able to watch them all night? Laughing

I would also think it was fun if there was stuff hidden in the house like cryptic clues for rewards or advantages in the game (or the HOH gets a clue) so that there's more activity in the house. When Jen was swimming those laps in the pool to get to the mile, lol, I was hoping she would win something, and when there was talk that Dick found something under a chess piece, I was interested.

The one thing I would really like to see is the elimination of backdooring. That seems like a failing in the game to me when someone who never had a chance to compete in the POV is ousted, but it seems difficult to change. Although, if they are going to be able to pick POV players, and they have to use it in favor of the player on the block who chose them, IF the replacement nominee was limited to someone who competed, both players would probably pick "one of their own" placing them in jeopardy which could be interesting, or they might risk picking someone they want out in collusion with the HOH. The HOH might pick someone to help them win the POV to keep the nominations in place or they might pick a POV player as a potential replacement. The player picked by the HOH could use the veto on either nominee, or no one. It does make everyone else relax once the POV players are chosen though, and that could be boring. I don't know, I'm rambling, as usual.

Oh, and even though it's WAY too late, a permanent live feed in the DR would be good. Shocked Laughing

Oh, Lizbeth, from your keyboard to Alison Grodner's ears!! I always wanted full access to the DR!!!

They will never put a live feed in the DR for us to see because then we would see the producer's 'interference'. Evil or Very Mad

I would really love them to have week long tasks like in BB1. They could win a reward for the house and it would force them to work together.

So if the show starts on Feb 12th, when do you think they will move into the house. I am sure as soon as they move in, all the rumors or confirmation of the HG will be revealed. I am excited for a new season.
