I don't know what's going on with her mom. I'm sure that when you grow up famous you don't think you need anyone to tell you what to do. And if her parents were hands off for a long time (which it seems they were) I can't imagine her welcoming them back into her life, no matter how much she needs it. She doesn't even know she needs it.
I have a very stubborn 4 year old who doesn't like to wear shoes, socks, long sleeved shirts, winter coats, etc. Lately I have been telling her that it doesn't matter what she wants to wear, that I am the mom and I make rules to take care of her. She used to say she didn't care if she got sick or whatever, but she responds when I say it's my job to keep her safe & healthy. I'm far from the best mom out there, but I do make sure my children wear the right clothing (including underwear ). |

I just read that Britney was released from the hospital. I was soooo excited to hear that Dr. Phil went to see her and she talked to him for an hour. I LOVE Dr. Phil and his brand of psychiatry!!!!! but then it went on to say that he would talk more about it on his talk show I mean as much as i'd love to see Britney, sis Jaime Lynn and their parents as the next Dr. Phil Family, i wish someone would try and help the girl just because she's someone who needs help, instead of trying to use her problems for their gain The whole thing is just so sad.......... |

I so agree, Jenni-doll! I've seen Dr. Phil mention Britney several times on his show, within recent months, and when he does, I just cringe. If he really wanted to help her, he would just go help her . . . not announce it on his show in what feels to me like an attempt to get ratings. The more I see of him, the less I'm impressed. _________________ "Ain't no man can avoid being born average, but there ain't no man got to be common." ~ Baseball Hall-of-Famer Leroy "Satchel" Paige |

Not a fan either. He acts like he knows so much and has nothing to learn.

Well, the news just went off, and they're talking like she may be on his show next week . . . exactly what she does not need!! And, as a professional, he should know that. Oh, I forgot. He's a professional talk show host. Period. In my opinion, he quit being a doctor quite awhile ago. _________________ "Ain't no man can avoid being born average, but there ain't no man got to be common." ~ Baseball Hall-of-Famer Leroy "Satchel" Paige |

Ahhhhh..........I love Dr. Phil
Years ago when he just did guest spots on Oprah, he really helped me make my way out of a bad relationship. His "tell it like it is" approach really made me see things in a different way that helped me climb out of the dark hole i was in. In my opinion though, he was better on Oprah because he could say exactly what he wanted (and did) without worrying about the things that go along with having your own show. His show now is kind of a watered down version of what made him famous.
I truely believe if anybody can help Britney Spears, Dr. Phil can. I just wish it was in a more private setting but then again i don't know who is requesting what. Britney does seem a little addicted to her fame anymore, maybe she wants this played out on tv......... |

Trying to fix one's problems in public results in too many cooks spoiling the broth.
Every person who has heard even a snippet of information has an opinion and all that babel just makes it impossible for anyone to focus on what's important.
Live on a talk show isn't my idea of the ideal situation to get necessary help, regardless of whether or not Dr. Phil is competent at his chosen profession. Just more grist for his publicity mill, seems to me.
That girl should go underground and get real help, before she implodes. _________________ "One kind word can warm three winter months." ~ Japanese proverb ~

I used to like him too Jenni Doll, until his show started getting exploitive. He also, in my opinion, doesn't give enough information about how to solve a problem. I still watch him though because he is entertaining. His grandiosity annoys me. Did you hear that he and Oprah had a falling out last year or maybe the year before? Something about her not feeling he showed enough appreciation and he didn't attend her B day party or something? _________________ "If you're not on somebody's shit list, you're not doing anything worthwhile." |

Yup I heard that he and Oprah had a falling out. I haven't heard anything lately about it. I think it was last year Moody. I also used to like him, I do watch because your right it is entertaining. He is very arrogant though and I don't remember him being like that in the earlier years of his show. My husband hates him and says he is becoming a new Jerry Springer I wouldn't go that far but he is definately out there for the ratings. |

Maybe not Jerry Springer, but Jerry Springer Lite?
And, I agree. I don't want to belittle your feelings for him Jenni. I'm very glad you were able to make it through a rough patch, because of him.
Lately, though, his lead-ins to new topics feel very tabloid-ish and "sound bitey" to me. And, when he renders his "verdict" at the end, it's surprising how very little he says. For that reason, I don't watch him very much. Since I never watched him in the beginning, I can't say if he's changed or not.
Bless your heart for sticking up for him, though, Jenni! I'll defend to the death (almost) your right to do so! _________________ "Ain't no man can avoid being born average, but there ain't no man got to be common." ~ Baseball Hall-of-Famer Leroy "Satchel" Paige |

I am too lazy to bring it over at the moment but I read that Britney's drug and alcohol tests came up clean so ATMom you were right. That's pretty severe/extreme behavior she is exhibiting without any substance use. _________________ "If you're not on somebody's shit list, you're not doing anything worthwhile." |

I heard that as well. She was as clean as a whistle. But I also heard that she is taking substances that cannot be traced Working in the medical field I find that highly unlikely if not at all possible but who knows these days with drugs. I think there is a possibility of some mental breakdown, maybe even some depression but then again what do I know? Nothing. |
