Thanks for that Cherry! Very Happy

I'm gonna go out on a limb and make a prediction, let's see how this holds up months from now!

Ladies - Jenni Garth
Gentlemen - Helio Castroneves (he's Brazilian so you know he's gonna rock the Samba! Wink )

Here is a bit of a bio on each contestant and who they are dancing with.
There are going to be some great couples this season! Ndmom, you have great predictions ( especially given who they are paired with!)

My vote is for :

Girls - Mel B.
Boys - Cameron Mathison

It's weird, I'm rather excited to see Wayne Newton on the show...I have no idea why.lol

Here they are:

Mark Cuban
Can this bartender-turned-billionaire bust a move? Mark Cuban is the owner of the NBA team the Dallas Mavericks and the founder of HDNet, Broadcast.com and MicroSolutions businesses that have helped him amass a fortune of over $2 billion. Cuban's dancing with alum Kym Johnson, back for her third season.

Cameron Mathison
(Marc Bryan-Brown, WireImage) A staple on the daytime drama "All My Children," Cameron Mathison has appeared as Ryan Lavery since 1989. He hosts the reality television show "I Want to Be a Soapstar." With a host of television credits under his belt, Mathison takes his first shot at dancing. He's paired with Edyta Sliwinska, the only dancer to appear in all five seasons of the show.

Albert Reed
(Mark Sullivan, WireImage) He's more than just a pretty face, model Albert Reed counts actor, musician and artist among his talents. But will this Abercrombie & Fitch model soon be adding dancing to that ever-growing resume? Reed brings his cool strut from the runway to the dance floor. Reed dances with Anna Trebunskaya, who is back for her second season.

Melanie Brown a.k.a. "Scary Spice"
(Michael Buckner, Getty Images) An actress and singer best known as member of the pop group "Spice Girls," Melanie Brown a.k.a. "Scary Spice," has two solo albums, over a dozen movie appearances and can even add Broadway actress to her resume. Will the choreographed dancing Brown performed as Mimi in "Rent" be what helps to take her to the top? She is partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy, returning for his fourth season.

Jennie Garth
You danced with her at the prom in the '90s, when she starred as Kelly Taylor on the hit show "90210." Since leaving Beverly Hills, Garth has appeared for four seasons in the sitcom "What I Like About You," and most recently in the Lifetime movie "Girl, Positive." Garth will dance with newcomer Derek Hough, brother of dancer Julianne Hough.

Josie Maran
Josie Maran has appeared in the pages of Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition and on the cover of Glamour magazine. She's been featured in ad campaigns for Guess and Maybelline, and she's even got a makeup line debuting this fall, but the question at hand is, can she dance? She'll be paired with season one winner, Alec Mazo.

Sabrina Bryan
As one of Disney's "Cheetah Girls," Sabrina Bryan has been entertaining youngsters as Dorinda since 2003. After the movie's debut, the all-girl group released two albums and toured the United States. Bryan has also appeared in the soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful." Bryan will be dancing with newcomer Mark Ballas.

Marie Osmond
She's a little bit country, but luckily her musical repertoire extends far beyond that. Marie Osmond won our hearts as the co-host of the variety show "The Donny and Marie Show," with brother Donny. She's an accomplished author and entrepreneur too, with her very own line of dolls. Osmond will dance with Jonathan Roberts, returning for his fourth season.

Jane Seymour
The real-life Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, Jane Seymour, helps people on and off the screen. In between her myriad of television and movie roles, she is an author, housewares designer and activist for underprivileged and abused children around the world. Seymour takes to the stage with Tony Dovolani as he returns for his fourth season.

Wayne Newton
He needs no introduction beyond "Mr. Las Vegas" -- Wayne Newton is the king of Sin City. Newton has performed more live shows than any other single performer in the city's history. He was mentored by greats like Lucille Ball and Frank Sinatra, and now we'll see if Newton has the skills to be "Mr. Dancing Champ." He'll cut the rug with two-time champion, Cheryl Burke.

Helio Castroneves
Helio Castroneves lives life in the fast lane, literally. He is a two-time winner of the Indianapolis 500. A native of Brazil, he's got a knack for winning, with 49 top five finishes during his Indy Car career. But can his fast feet and Latin flair be enough to take this title? This Indy Car champion pairs with Dancing's reigning champ, Julianne Hough, returning for her sophomore season.

Floyd Mayweather
No stranger to competition, Floyd Mayweather will bring his game from center ring to center stage. This boxing champ is the six-time world champion and current World Boxing Champion of the World, boasting an undefeated record of 38-0. Will he remain undefeated on the hardwood? Mayweather will dance with Karina Smirnoff, appearing for her third season.

Mel B & Maks should be hot, hot, hot. Very Happy

A little info I came across...

The "Dancing" couple marries in San Francisco.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ET confirms the news that professional dancers EDYTA SLIWINSKA and ALEC MAZO have married.

People mag reports that the pair tied the knot in San Francisco on Saturday. Edyta told People that they had originally planned to wed in 2006, but the intensity of the "Dancing" schedule made that impossible: "We planned on getting married last year, but with the show and then the tour back to back, we had to postpone it."

Alec won the first season of the show with partner KELLY MONACO, while Edyta has been partnered with JOEY LAWRENCE and JOHN RATZENBERGER.

Both will appear on this season's show, which premieres on September 24 on ABC: Edyta will be partnered with CAMERON MATHISON of "All My Children," while Alec will dance with model JOSIE MARAN.

How the hell did I miss this thread? lol

Another HOT man on TV tonight...too bad he didn't dance yet. Can't wait to see if the men can live up to the great dancing by the women. I was pretty impressed with the women for a first show. The only one that didn't impress was Josie Maran. Sabrina was quite the fiesty little competitor. I don't know if my prediction of Jennie Garth is going to hold up Laughing because there is some stiff competition but I still like her. Smile

As for the men tonight, my prediction of Helio is looking GOOD!! He's a cutie pie and he does have that Latin blood in him Very Happy . Albert is a hottie for sure, Floyd needs to loosen up, Mark is so fun and silly, Cameron is a gentleman but needs to relax a little and Wayne is just....ummm, not very good, lol. Cheryl is not winning this year that is for sure! Wink

I didn't know who Helio was, but he certainly stood out tonight (I had to google him)
Floyd looked like he was boxing, LOL, very aggressive, but he has potential.
I love Cameron, hope he does well.
Didn't know who Albert is, but I couldn't take my eyes off of him! Shocked Laughing

I was really surprised that Wayne Newton didn't do well at all last night...I just thought with his years in show business that he had picked up a little rhythm. imo he was the poorest dancer last night..
Albert is a cutie and I thought did well, but as he said he probably will not have the fan base to keep him in long.
too early to tell yet who will stay for the long run...I predict that Josie Maran will be elimanated tonight..

Aww, this bites. You all are having fun discussing this show and I'm not watching it this season. Of course, unless I decide I don't like the new show "Chuck" then I will be back to watching DWTS.

You know, I feel a bit odd. I also watch Prison Break and I was wondering if I'm into the detective, cop, forensic shows a might too much. I watch ALL the CSI's and some Law & Orders. And I like what I call, "Rockum Sockum" movies that have lots of violence in them as well. You know like; Terminator, Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, Resident Evil, Braveheart, The Transporter and Reservoir Dogs. I must embrace this non-female side to me. I was surprised at Newton also. I thought he was going to be sick, he was so nervous. It was pretty terrible but he probably has enough fan base to not be voted out.

I also believe that Josie will be eliminated tonight.

Could you believe that Mark Cuban danced after just having a hip replacement. He DID NOT have a doctor's approval for that.....I will bet money on that.

Frannie, if you go to "Fans of Reality TV" site you can read wonderful recaps of the dancing so you at least can follow along if you want. Laughing

I bet it was not with Dr's approval either Granny...My son-in-law was not allowed to return to work at a desk job for 6 weeks after hip replacement.
The reason was because he drives 30 miles to work and the Dr. would not approve that. Something about the way he would be sitting while driving.
