Ian came into chat around 11:45 EST, and stayed until just after 12:30 EST time. He was a bit late because he had problems logging in, but Nancy talked him through it. He didn't go on audio, just typed, and there were around 50 people there for most of the chat. He said he didn't like to go on audio because he likes to type too much.
Ian's been working hard with Will at Dr. Tatoff, and working on the Kirby Dermcuticles. He works corporate for Dr. Tatoff, and not at any particular clinic. There are 3 Dr. Tatoff Clinics in the LA area, and they are looking to expand the brand to other clinics, to as many places as they can. He said its a matter of opening them at the right time in the right place. He said he hasn't been getting a lot of sleep, but it is having a lot of fun. He joked that sleep is for wussies anyways. Ian's favourite product is the power peel pads, and he mentioned a new kit coming out soon, but couldn't give more details until they had been confirmed.
When asked about the tatoo on Will's upper thigh, he said that although he hasn't seen Will's upper thigh lately, he imagine's that it is probably gone, or mostly gone, because he is always getting something lasered.
Ian and Will are going to Hawaii (the big island) for a week during the holidays, because their stepgrandmother lives there. There was no mention of Erin going along as well, though the question was asked. Chris Knight is very similar on TV to the person he is in real life. Ian hasn't seen Theo in a few months, because he is touring his stand up comedy right now. Ian and Scout get along very well, though one time, Ian watched scout for a week, and she drove him nuts. Ian compared Scout to a giant hairy mosquito, and says he doesn't have any pets himself. When asked if he talks to Janelle, he said that he only met her once for a second, a year and a half ago. He's only met NPH once, but likes his acting style. Ian thinks that NPH is the only reason that his show is still floating.
Ian said he thought Will did great on Dr. 90210 this season, but doesn't think he'll be on the next season. He said he is always proud of Will on TV, because he handles himself very well. He said he doesn't want to be on BB9, because being in front of reality cameras is not his idea of a good time. He prefers the anonimity of his life. Ian says Reality really isn't his thing, but he supports his brother in it. Ian helped to coach Will in the auditions of BB2. He said he and Will worked together to get a personality and game plan for Will that season, and allstars was all Will. Ian is 6 years younger than Will, if you were wondering.
On Dr. 90210, Ian said the Boogie's Penis episode and the episode where they lasered Chris Knight's ear hair were really good. Suprisingly, Ian said that episode made Boogie even more popular with the ladies. The writers strike can really only affect Will positively, because reality writers aren't unionized, meaning new reality content can be made. Ian said that Will would likely consider doing more reality, if it fit into his schedule. Ian would only consider doing reality if it was something really good, or if it would help out their business ventures greatly.
Having gone to University in Florida, Ian is a huge Gators fan. He did say though, that it is hard not to root for the patriots, because they seem to be unstoppable.
Ian talked a lot about both of his parents. He said his mom is a great lady, who doesn't get enough credit for being such a fantastic mom. He joked about how he was going for the Son of the Year Award His Dad is doing well. He said, his Dad getting nominated for the National Book Award, is like getting nominated for an Oscar. Their stepmom is also a poet, so Ian says that his Dad likely passes his poetry by her first. There is a poem written by their Dad about Will and Nuns, because Will was born in a hospital run by Nuns in Florence Italy. (They aren't Italian though). Their Dad is always working on something, which is where Will and Ian get that from. He said when you work like that, you fail a lot, but you also succeed. Their Dad's most recent book is really solid, and recommended by Ian. It's called "The House On Boulevard Street." It's written to how a greatest hits album would be written, but of all his best poetry.
A chatter asked Ian about an article that was supposedly written by him, about some rap contest. Ian admitted that the article was actually written by him, but it was really bad. He reflected on how writers are often their own worst critic, but he said that piece was horid. Sometimes he writes good things he said, but that was just terrible.
They chatted a bit about movies. Ian said he saw "No Country for Old Men" which he thought was absolutely amazing. Javier Bardem is incredible. He also likes the Planet Earth series, but likes the British version better than the American one. For those wondering, they are the same, just with a different narrator. (British version narrated by Richard Attenborough rather than Sigourney Weaver).
This opened the door for a conversation about travelling. Ian's been to the UK, but not for several years, and there are many places he hasn't seen that he would like to. Ian also hasn't been though Asia, Austrialia, Canada, Croatia, Zimbabwe or Mars. These were all places thrown out there by chatters. He's never been to cleveland, but he has family there, and he's driven through Texas. Ian joked and said "this isn't "Where in the World is Ian Kirby?"
Ian likes Kanye West, not for his hip hop, but just as a musician in general. He also likes lupe fiasco and Pharell and N*E*R*D* for ecerything except their lyrics. He says in general, he listens to about 80% rock, and then the remaining 20% is a mix of classical, rap, ect. Will mostly likes 80s and rap music he said.
Ian said Will is really hard to shop for, because he can be picky sometimes. Ian looked for something to get Will for 2 hours, but was unsuccessful so they agreed to just go out to dinner someime. Ian said what Will really needs is a new Mac. Will's attention flies all over the place, he said, and Will had gotten the short end of the stick with his birthday, because its right after the winter holidays. His chatters implied that Ian should get Will a webcam for Christmas, and Ian said something along the lines of "you don't want to see Will at home." Then he said that Will at home was like Michael Jackson without makeup, and it would ruin our images of him.
Ian left, saying he was going to see his friend with his improv comedy troupe, and said he'll try to chat more in the future. He left with some odd comment about cats sleeping on podcasts, and watching Will sleep. It was an exchange that I didn't understand. If anyone can clear that up, or add to anything I have forgotten, please do Then Ian wished a safe and happy holidays for everyone and was gone. _________________ "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind" |

Wonderful recap, Katie! You're the bestest!!
Oh, and about that podcast....he mentioned that he heard a podcast of a cat purring...and then said he didn't know why he mentioned that, LOL.
When he said he was leaving "on that odd note", it was because people were telling him that they watched Will sleep on BB (they were telling him that because he'd said people wouldn't want to watch Will at home) and he found that odd. _________________

Katie Marie you did real well and I wont have to post the recap that a dear little old lady gave me...Sounds like you got just about everything.
More than she did, because she dozed off toward the end of the chat and didn't get the end, so I can't help you with the sleeping cats on ipods...
There is something that readers might misunderstand...
| Quote: | | Ian said he thought Will did great on Dr. 90210 this season, but doesn't think he'll be on the next season |
Ian was asked if he was going to be on 90210 next season and he said No, that he didn't think he, Ian, would be on the show..So Will will be on 90210, but Ian's doesn't think that he, Ian, will be..You know how picky some of our readers can be.
When the question was asked about Will's thigh tatto and after Ian had answered it.. Nancy Polley popped in to say, "Pardon me, but let's keep Will's thigh out of this."
You were spot on with everything...Thank you Miss Katie Marie for an excellent recapp...You're a very observant and through recapper. |

Thanks Katie. I see there was no mention of Erin and from what I understand, there were lots of Erin questions. I wonder if he did this to protect Erin or because something is up with Will and Erin? We will never know until next season of Dr. 90210. I think those boys have hit the Jackpot with the Dr. Tattoff business. Very smart investment.
When I read that about Will on camera at home I had an instant image in my mind of Will with something that resembles a hairnet on him with a mud mask, chatting on the computer. Obviously for whatever reason Will isn't comfortable chatting on video, I can't imagine him looking bad, but whatever.
Thanks again for the recap. _________________ "If you're not on somebody's shit list, you're not doing anything worthwhile." |

Thanks for the recap, Katie, very thorough and clear, I do hope that you will continue to do more of them, they're a good read! Kudos!
Ian always sounds like a grounded young man, and interesting too, he doesn't put on an act which makes him easy to like. _________________ "One kind word can warm three winter months." ~ Japanese proverb ~

The main thing that I got from last night is that Ian has no use for the little ragmuffin' dog. _________________

I think Ian was saying that he, "Ian", would not be on Dr90210, not that Will would not be on. _________________ Maybe Will and Janelle both just wanted a taco but I wanted the whole enchilada for them. |

Thanks Cassandra; I misunderstood. I thought that would be an odd comment for Ian to be making. _________________

It's a perfect thing for Will because they need a doctor, and he gets to play with lasers. Good for Ian being involved also. Sounds like great experience for a young guy.
Ian sounds so down to earth in that recap. I'd love to see him & Janie in the same chat. No agenda, no selling, no thighs. |

Thanks Katie for your usual outstanding job of recapping and sharing a chat.
I am glad to hear Will and Ian will be spending family time together in Hawaii for the Holidays. It does seem a little strange to me that this is the second year in a row Will has not spent Christmas with his lady love. It just seems when two people are building a life together they would want to be together on Christmas Eve and Day. Anyway I am sure they will have a good time.
Ian does seem very relaxed and natural. He seems to be a very pleasant young man. _________________ I JUST TRY AND SEE THE BEST IN PEOPLE...Janelle Pierzina, August 2006 |
