Avid Lost fans probably know this already, but just in case, I thought I'd post it - my local paper had an article about the status of shows re the writers' strike and it appears that unlike other series, which are being held back until they can broadcast all the episodes consecutively, such as '24', LOST is going to be back after Christmas, even if they have only part of the season, so we won't have to wait after all. Very Happy

Are you ready to have your mind blown to smithereens, partially reassembled, and then blown to bits, once again, scattering so far across time and space that you will never recover your prior understanding of the world?

COUNT ME IN!

Listen folks, LOST is your best bet in this time of Strike (besides Big Brother, of course), whether you've watched it before or not. If anybody needs an introduction to the characters, storylines, or whatever, I am ready and willing to teach the course of LOST 101.

The premiere is January 31st, a Thursday, at 9 p.m. I guess it's still quite a while away, but when we've been waiting for seven months already the wait now seems like nothing. I really do hope that we can have some lively discussions here at AABB... I promise to stick around! Very Happy

A few of my favorite LOST scenes ---

Jack and Kate on the day of the crash, intermixed with Kate's retelling of "the story"... I really have a soft spot in my heart for these two:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=LdKRjEMY7Vk

Creepy Ben when we still knew him as Creepy Henry... "You guys got any milk?" Hehe:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JZ1yQdWWTKc

Sawyer's nicknames... I guess they get to be a little much over time for some viewers, but I still find myself laughing every time:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=FKVTdevaJVY

Locke and Walt play backgammon with black and white pieces similar to the ones Jack and Kate find on the bodies of "Adam and Eve":

http://youtube.com/watch?v=nYo65cMu8IU

The opening scene of season 2... one of my absolute favorites:

Cool

What didn't you like about it, char? Just the fact that Jack seemed to be so desperately screwed up? I was pretty shocked by that too, but I think there's hope. The promo says something about how "some will leave the island..." and "some will not..." so I think that a very possible potential storyline involves Jack, Kate, and the other Losties who made it off the island making a return to the Island and having some kinda definitive showdown, ultimately defeating the evil powers attempting to claim the island forever!!! Or something like that. hehe.

Here's another version of the promo, because the one I posted was removed:

Also, here's the ORCHID ORIENTATION FILM, which was released over Summer 2007. It's never been on the show but it introduces a new "hatch" (such as the Swan, with the computer, where they input the sequence of cursed numbers, and the Looking Glass, where Charlie died.) I think that the Orchid will show up next season in some important capacity! IMO, this video definitely solidifies the motif of time travel. Two Bunny 15s in the same place at the same time! Hmmm. Here it is:

Oh dang... how insensitive am I, I didn't even think about that. I'm sure that's what char meant too... well, not sure, but semi-sure. Sorry! I have just been hardened to the concept of my beloved castaways dying, I suppose, maybe because my first favorite was Boone... who was also the first to die. Anyway, I'm sure that Charlie's presence will be felt in many different ways in the future, even though he won't be there to grace us with his lovely comic timing and the sweetness of his relationship with Claire and Aaron.

I'll think about changing my avatar, but not my signature! Never ever... you can't make me! Wink

Did you see the subliminal messages on the ORCHID ORIENTATION FILM? I wasn't able to catch them on pause. One was a building and the other were just words? I wish I knew what they were.

The sig line must be changed or you are not a REAL LOSTIE!!!!!!!!!!!! Bwahahahahaha. Gads, I sure can be wicked sometimes. Wink

Ooops Embarassed I left before I noticed that you had ask me a question..yep, this is exactly what I didn't like about the end of last season.

I didn't like seeing him go down that same path into alcoholism that his Dad had been down...I hope he and Kate do go back to the Island and that they find Charlie has somehow been returned to life, but then Charlie's English girlfriend and baby would have to go back too, so that he could be with him..I'd want Sawyer there, but he would have to have a girlfriend, so that he would not mess up Kate's and Jack's love...
I have forgotten what happened to the woman Dr. of last season...the one that she and Jack had a thing for one another...Did she return with them or was she killed?

Oh Char, you're a Jater too? Hahahahaaaaaaaaa... I swear I vowed never to ship another couple, fictional or not, after the Wynelle experience. But I actually loved Jack and Kate together before I even knew who Will and Janie were. So I guess this can be the one exception.

Anyway, I love Sawyer even though he stole Kate away from Doc Giggles. We'll see how that works out in the end.

I also completely agree with you regarding Jack's complete regression into addiction and all the other issues he seemed to exhibit in the finale. However, if we look at it from the standpoint of storytelling... perhaps the character of Jack is being deconstructed to such a degree so that, in the end, he will be redeemed and built back up into a whole and healthy person. I hope that's the case. And the flash forwards are not the end, that was confirmed by the producers and writers... so Jack's still got a chance at happiness, as do they all I hope.

The woman doctor, Juliet, is still on the island along with all the rest of 'em at this point. The only two we know for sure to be rescued are Jack and Kate!

I think that the words were "Jacob Loves You"... which we saw before when Alex (Ben's daughter) rescued her boyfriend from that strange "brainwashing room" reminiscent of A Clockwork Orange. That "Jacob Loves You" image was in the video he was watching. Hmm. I hope we find out who Jacob is this season, at least more than we know now!
