Pat, thanks for this great recipe plus variations. I copied and pasted it into Word, where its' now saved for later on when I get going on the Xmas goodies. Very Happy
I LOVE simple and easy to make recipes, since I get tired so easily, so these will be a ideal for me. Very Happy

Inky...I shuddered thinking all these recipes might be lost. Tomorrow I vow I am going to cut and paste them all into a MSWord document!

I know the feeling! My first thought was, "Whew! I'm sure glad I copied and pasted SDGranny's orange cranberry sauce recipe into my Word document this morning!!!!"

Well inky, my granddaughter and I made six dozen huge cookies! All but about a dozen went for the school sale. They were a hit and we sold every last lot Smile

These are so easy and fun to make. We sifted all of our cake mixes so that we could evenly seperate the flour and make more variations.

we did;
French vanila w/broken pieces of green and red mms almond candy. Would work well for Christmas.

white w/plain mms

chocolate with butterscotch chips

chocolate covered with powered sugar, these are very very pretty.

yellow w/semi sweet chips, half of these I covered with powered sugar cocoa mixture before baking, again pretty.

a marble effect by joining white and chocolate balls together just slightly rolling into new ball.

Lemon w/orange zest for color

Thanks again inky!

Wowee, Letsee!!! You and your granddaughter really baked up a storm! I've copied and pasted your ideas into my Word document!! They all sound so good! I can't believe how much you got done. I think I'll try the red and green M&Ms for Christmas, and I love your idea of doing a black and white cookie. I'd never have thought of that! Great job! And, thanks for reporting back! I'm always looking for new ideas.

I just finished making these cookies. I used devil's food cake mix, added walnuts and mini baking M & M type candies. I also made fudge cake mix with walnuts and then frosted them with white frosting with mini rainbow chips (frosting was in a can Laughing )

They are very good. I also sent the recipes to my daughter as she will be getting together with some friends for a day of baking....then they share what they bake.

I think I'll try the Heath bar variation.
I'll have to go to the store first... that is going to be tomorrow.

So what if it ends up a lumpy, bumpy sheet cake. Just tell the gang that's what you planned . . . and slap some whipped cream on top. Laughing Laughing Laughing

They turned out fine. They were very close but each one is a different shape.. lol no perfect round cookies for me. Some are square, some diamond and all sorts of polygons.

Daughter just called on her layover at Chicago O'Hare ( she had to go from Raleigh to Chicago to Tulsa..) and I told her about all the chocloate stuff I made... She said, "Oh good, I'm PMS-ing and chocolate really helps" LOL

Bless your daughters heart! PMS-ing on an overbooked flight if I can guess and all those layovers...yuck! At least when she gets home she'll get a hug from her mom and some delicious chocolate to help with the hormonal upheaval. Very Happy Very Happy

How well I remember . . . back in the good old days! Chocolate can get you over all sorts of things: mean bosses, cheating husbands (now, ex), bad hair cuts, PMS . . . the list goes and on (do you have time?) Laughing Laughing Laughing

And going in and out of O'Hare can be a nightmare. She will really need that chocolate by the time she gets home. Hope her lay-over is not too bad. The weather here at the moment is pretty good so there won't be weather delays. That can be awful. Rolling Eyes

Hope she arrived safely.

The daughter arrived safely and on time... and after hearing about her flight, don't feel sorry for her.
She flew from Raleigh/O'Hare/Tulsa sitting next to the same cute guy. She said they flirted the whole way. She said he was too cute for words. He was going to Springfield. Mo. but is stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He just got back from Iraq. He got my daughter's phone number and said he was serious... he is calling. She said, I think he will".

LOL

Welcome home, Nancy's daughter! We're mom's dirty little secret. Laughing

And, Nancy, ya never know where this chance meeting will lead. A fond memory 50 years from now, or a gray-haired loved one, holding your daughter's hand? Only time will tell, but aren't chance meetings fun?
