I hope you all will take the time and go to the Lounge and check the Military Christmas thread and send a card, light a candle, write a message at sites and/or donate to Shari's (Fame) link so we can send needed items to our troops. What Shari posted there was heartfelt and as a group maybe we can make a difference for some of our troops this Christmas season. We will only be collecting donations for a short time so Shari has the time needed to get the packages together and get them in the mail.
The best gift you can get is in giving what you can to help and support others during the holidays or throughout the year.

thought that it may be benificial if I posted a few ideas and items of need:

disposable razors,
hand sanitizer
lotion
bug spray
baby wipes
beef jerky
disposable cameras
used books
burned cds
nerf balls

As you can see from the items i listed, it doesn't have to be anything extravagant. Actually the less extravagant, the more useful, my husband always said.....

We have some guys in mind that would really benefit from our support and they would also greatly appreciate the kind gestures.

I would love input as to how we, the board as a whole, would like to handle this....we could simply chose one person, or we could split it into several small packages, so that each of them derserving will recieve something. A taste of home....is always nice, even if you do not personally know the person.

I just know from first hand experience that there are so many of these young men and women, that have found themselves deployed to the Middle East and they do not have the family support that you would expect. Frankly, that is a reason that alot of young people join the services these days....it is a way for them to provide for themselves, in a world that they are not certain they could survive in otherwise. I know this, because I have had some of these people in my home, and I have heard their stories........

And, I want to make an important point....we do not all have to agree on all subjects pertaining to our favorite reality stars, politics, sports, or even whether Pluto is still a planet. But, I think it would be a spectacular thing, for all of us to come together to support someone that truly is deserving. They afterall by volunteering their service to the country have made it so that many of our young sons and daughters have not had too.
