|Before I give the ingredients in this recipe that has never had a name...and you realize it's a recipe using "saurkraut", I'd like to say something about using saurkraut. The most important thing you have to do with saurkraut is rinse it...when rinsed properly it has a very bland taste and takes on the flavors of what your adding to it, so rinse all that brine out of it and I think you may win quite a few saurkraut haters over...this recipe is a good example of changing the taste of saurkraut
1 # of saurkraut (well rinsed)
1 cup green pepper ( finely chopped)
1 cup red pepper (finely chopped)
2 cups shredded carrotts
2 cups celery (finely chopped)
1/2 cup onion (finely chopped)
1/4 cup oil
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar
stir and mix well....put in covered container and refrigerate at least 8 hours or overnight, stirring at least 2-3 times. After it has marinated, drain off all of the liquid and its ready to serve.
I found this recipe at a pot luck dinner and tracked down the person who brought it....me and quite a few others I might say.......but please, please, please...rinse that saurkraut.
